Best For
The 44 Sign Construction Safety Pack is particularly suited to:
-
Larger construction sites
-
New site set-up
-
Main contractors
-
Building contractors
-
Commercial construction projects
-
Sites with multiple entrances and work areas
-
Contractors managing several projects
-
Companies keeping commonly used replacement signs in stock
Why Choose a 44-Sign Construction Pack?
Larger construction projects can require safety information at numerous locations.
You may need signage at:
-
Main entrances
-
Pedestrian entrances
-
Site boundaries
-
Work areas
-
Vehicle routes
-
Site offices
-
Fire points
-
First-aid locations
-
Assembly areas
-
Storage areas
A larger pack gives you greater flexibility to position individual signs around the site rather than relying on one sign board at the entrance.
Where duplicate signs are included, they can also be used at multiple access points or retained as replacements.
Construction Site Entrance Signs
Site entrances are important safety-information points.
Depending on the contents of Pack I, entrance signage can communicate information relating to:
-
Construction hazards
-
Unauthorised access
-
Visitors
-
PPE
-
Site rules
Position appropriate signs so workers, contractors, visitors and other people see the information before entering the operational site.
PPE Signs
Construction projects often have designated personal protective equipment requirements.
Depending on the signs included in Pack I, these may communicate requirements for:
-
Safety helmets
-
High-visibility clothing
-
Safety footwear
-
Eye protection
-
Hearing protection
-
Protective gloves
-
Other PPE
Site-wide requirements can be communicated at entrances, while signs for specialist PPE are usually better positioned where the additional requirement begins.
Hazard & Warning Signs
Construction sites can involve numerous hazards that change as a project progresses.
Pack I may include warning signs suitable for commonly encountered construction risks.
Additional hazard-specific signage may still be needed for work involving areas such as:
-
Deep excavations
-
Electrical hazards
-
Overhead cables
-
Underground services
-
Demolition
-
Asbestos
-
Confined spaces
-
Fragile roofs
-
Hazardous substances
Use signs that correspond with the hazards actually present.
Access & Keep Out Signs
Controlling access is particularly important on active construction sites.
Signs such as Construction Site Keep Out, No Unauthorised Access or similar messages can reinforce site security and access arrangements.
Where a site has several entrances or exposed boundary areas, multiple signs may be required so the warning remains clearly visible.
Fire & Emergency Signs
Construction projects also need appropriate emergency arrangements.
Depending on Pack I's exact contents, it may include signs relating to:
-
Fire safety
-
Fire points
-
Fire extinguishers
-
Escape routes
-
First aid
-
Assembly points
Fire and emergency arrangements can change as construction progresses, so check that signage remains appropriate as the site's layout develops.
First Aid Signs
First-aid signage helps workers and visitors locate first-aid facilities and equipment.
Where Pack I includes First Aid signs, position them so the relevant provision can be easily identified.
The signs should correspond with the first-aid arrangements established for the site.
Use the Signs Around the Site
A 44-sign pack doesn't mean all 44 signs should be displayed together.
The advantage of individual signs is that they can be positioned where each particular message is required.
For example:
Main entrance
General site warning, access and PPE information.
Pedestrian gate
PPE and visitor instructions.
Site perimeter
Keep Out and appropriate warning signs.
Work areas
Hazard-specific and PPE signs.
Vehicle routes
Relevant traffic and pedestrian information.
Fire points
Fire equipment signs.
First-aid facilities
First Aid signs.
Assembly area
Assembly Point signage.
This helps provide safety information at the point where people need it.
Does Pack I Contain Every Sign My Construction Site Needs?
Not necessarily.
There is no universal set of 44 signs that will cover every construction project.
The appropriate safety signage depends on factors including:
-
Work being undertaken
-
Site-specific hazards
-
Risk assessments
-
PPE requirements
-
Access arrangements
-
Site layout
-
Vehicle and pedestrian movements
-
Fire arrangements
-
First-aid provision
-
Contractors and visitors
-
Risks to members of the public
Pack I provides a broad selection of commonly used construction signage, but additional specialist signs may be required.
Construction Signs & UK Health and Safety
Safety signs should form part of the wider measures used to manage workplace risks.
The Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996 address the use of safety signs where necessary in relation to risks that cannot adequately be avoided or controlled by other means.
Construction projects are also subject to wider health and safety responsibilities, including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
Safety signs help communicate warnings, prohibitions, mandatory actions and emergency information, but they don't replace physical controls, site security, PPE provision, training, supervision or safe systems of work.
Construction Signs & BS EN ISO 7010
Many construction safety signs use recognised graphical symbols standardised by BS EN ISO 7010.
Consistent symbols can make safety messages easier to recognise and understand.
BS EN ISO 7010 is a safety-symbol standard rather than construction legislation itself. Appropriate signage still needs to reflect the hazards and safety arrangements of the individual project.
Ideal for Multi-Site Contractors
Pack I can also be useful if your company manages several construction projects.
Rather than using all 44 signs on one site, signs can potentially be allocated across projects according to their individual requirements.
Unused signs can also provide useful replacement stock for commonly used messages.
Always check that a sign is appropriate before installing it on another site.
Keep Replacement Signs Available
Construction signage can become:
-
Damaged
-
Dirty
-
Weathered
-
Lost
-
Obscured
-
Removed during site changes
Keeping spare commonly used signs available can make it easier to replace damaged or missing signage promptly.
A larger pack can therefore be useful both for initial site set-up and ongoing signage requirements.
Review Your Signs as the Project Changes
Construction sites evolve quickly.
As the project progresses:
-
Entrances may move
-
Pedestrian routes may change
-
Vehicle routes can be altered
-
Different hazards can appear
-
PPE requirements can change
-
Temporary buildings may move
-
Fire arrangements can develop
-
Contractors may change
Review your signage regularly.
Remove signs that no longer apply and introduce new signage where different risks or instructions need to be communicated.

UK Health & Safety Regulations
The Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA) 1974 is a foundational law in the UK for workplace health and safety. It outlines the general duties of various parties to ensure a safe work environment. Here's a quick summary: Duty of Employers: Employers must provide a safe workplace, ensure the health, safety and welfare of their employees and anyone else on the premises (visitors, contractors etc.). This includes providing adequate training, information, and supervision. Employee Duties: Employees have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others around them. This includes following safety procedures and using equipment properly. Other Duties: The Act also places duties on those responsible for premises, manufacturers of equipment used at work, and the self-employed. Safety signage is one way employers can fulfill their duty to inform and instruct employees. Signs can warn of hazards, provide instructions for safe use of equipment, and delineate emergency exits. While HSWA outlines general principles, specific regulations and Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs) provide more detailed guidance on workplace health and safety practices. For up-to-date information, you can refer to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) website https://www.gov.uk/health-and-safety-executive.

Sign Materials Guide
Choosing the right material for your safety signs is crucial for ensuring their effectiveness and durability. We proudly manufacture all our signs in Britain. Let us guide you in selecting the most suitable material for your signs.
Self-adhesive stickers
Self-adhesive stickers are ideal for indoor usage. We use superior-quality Metamark digital vinyl, which is a durable and flexible material with an adhesive backing. Prior to applying the sticker, ensure that the surface is flat, smooth, and clean. While the vinyl is waterproof, we do not recommend outdoor usage unless the surface is deemed appropriate. It is important to note that vinyl stickers do not stick to wood, rendered, wood chip, brick or stone walls, concrete, or similar surfaces. In such cases, we suggest considering alternative materials such as recycled plastic or composite aluminium. Please be aware that Self-adhesive stickers, such as Dulux Easycare Matt Emulsion paint, will not adhere to newly formulated washable, "wipe clean" painted surfaces. If you have any uncertainties or inquiries, feel free to ask us. Additionally, we advise against attempting to independently apply Self-adhesive stickers larger than A4 size, as it may be more challenging than anticipated.
Recyclable Plastic
Introducing Polyline Bubble Board, the latest innovation in the sign industry, made from 100% recyclable polypropylene. Manufactured in the EU by Pyramid, this eco-friendly material offers an impressive strength-to-weight ratio, with a smooth, flute-free surface—unlike Correx.
The Bubble Board features a fire-retardant (FR) black core, making it an ideal choice for projects that require enhanced safety measures. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, it is UV-treated for excellent weather resistance, and its scratch-resistant surface outperforms traditional Foamex. Fully recyclable through the No.5 waste stream, Bubble Board is a sustainable and reliable option for UK safety signage.
Rigid Plastic
Rigid Plastic Signs are commonly used for safety signs due to their durability and lightweight design. Our Plastic 1mm option is lightweight and durable, providing waterproof qualities. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Fixing holes can be drilled in the plastic at no additional cost.
We take pride in being the inaugural online sign manufacturer in the UK to present our complete product line of health and safety signs and general signage in 50% recycled plastic. Our new 3mm waterproof recycled plastic, which is bright white in colour, is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and is more eco-friendly compared to traditional rigid plastic. It possesses the same surface qualities as rigid and foamed plastic but incorporates a lighter recycled foam PVC centre. Furthermore, this material is 100% recyclable and offers an exceptional printing surface for various signage applications. You have the option to drill fixing holes or use foam adhesive pads on the back for mounting the signs.
Aluminium Composite
Our Metal Signs, constructed from Aluminium Composite (Dibond Signs), are specifically crafted for outdoor usage. The aluminium composite consists of a non-aluminium core bonded between two thin sheets, resulting in a sturdy and weather-resistant sign. We utilize 3mm thick composite aluminium, sourced from ALUPANEL in Britain. This material is produced from at least 80% recycled materials and is completely recyclable. It can be easily drilled to install holes, and we provide pre-drilled holes upon request at no extra cost. Dibond signs are well-known for their durability and long lifespan, making them a fantastic option for outdoor signage.
Foamex
Foamed Plastic Signs, or Foamex, are a popular choice for temporary construction site safety boards. This material is durable yet lightweight, weatherproof, and specifically designed for outdoor signage. Our foamex is 3mm thick and has a white matte finish.
Correx
Fluted Polypropylene, also known as Correx, is designed for temporary signage, especially in the construction industry. It offers a cost-effective and lightweight solution for short-term signage needs.
Banners
Here are the details about our banner options:
Standard and Premium Banner Materials
We offer a standard 440gsm PVC Banner, which is lightweight, weather-resistant, flame-resistant, and has a gloss finish. It is suitable for indoor and short-term outdoor use.
- Our Premium 510gsm Extra-Strong PVC Banner is designed for higher tear resistance and durability. It is weather-resistant, suitable for indoor and long-term outdoor use, and meets UK and European fire safety standards. It has a satin finish.
Mesh Banner Material
- The 260gsm MESH Banner is perfect for windy areas, as its perforated design allows wind and some light to pass through, preventing ripping.
All our banners are printed with high-quality, eco-friendly UV inks. They are hemmed and eyelet for easy fixing, and cable ties are provided at no extra charge.

Frequently Asked Questions About Construction Site Signs
What are the required safety signs for a UK construction site?
Under Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM 2015), building sites must prominently display a mix of mandatory signs (e.g., "PPE Must Be Worn"), prohibition signs ("No Unauthorised Access"), hazard warnings ("Danger Construction Site"), and clear fire exit route markers. Our multi-message site safety boards combine all these necessary warnings onto a single layout.
Which sign material is best for temporary scaffolding and building sites?
For temporary construction environments, Fluted Polypropylene (Correx) and Foamed Plastic (Foamex) are highly recommended. Correx is incredibly lightweight, waterproof, and easily attached to scaffolding grids or fencing using cable ties. For longer-term development projects or hoarding displays, we suggest upgrading to rigid plastic or durable aluminium composite (dibond) panels.
Do you offer bulk trade pricing for large construction projects?
Yes, we specialise in supplying trade accounts and major contractors across the UK. The Safety Sheep Store offers bulk trade discounts of up to 35% on multi-packs and volume orders. All our building site signs are proudly manufactured in our Yorkshire facility, allowing us to pass direct factory savings straight to your project budget.
