Best For
Construction Safety Pack I can be particularly useful for:
-
Larger construction sites
-
New site set-ups
-
Main contractors
-
Building contractors
-
Sites with multiple work areas
-
Contractors managing several projects
-
Replacing or refreshing existing site signage
-
Keeping commonly used replacement signs in stock
Why Choose a 44-Sign Construction Pack?
Larger construction sites can require safety information in numerous locations.
Instead of purchasing each sign individually, a 44-sign pack provides a broad selection in one order.
This can be particularly useful when setting up a new site where signs may be needed at:
-
Site entrances
-
Pedestrian access points
-
Perimeter areas
-
Work zones
-
Site offices
-
Welfare areas
-
Fire points
-
First-aid locations
-
Assembly areas
-
Vehicle routes
The individual signs can then be positioned according to the layout and requirements of the project.
Ideal for Larger Construction Sites
A larger site may have several entrances, separate work areas and multiple locations where safety information needs to be communicated.
This can mean needing duplicates of commonly used signs rather than simply having one of each type.
Pack I's 44-sign format makes it particularly suitable for projects where a smaller starter pack may not provide sufficient coverage.
Useful for Contractors Managing Multiple Sites
Pack I can also be a practical option for contractors operating more than one construction project.
Signs that aren't immediately required on one site can potentially be retained as replacement stock or used on another project where appropriate.
This gives contractors a useful stock of construction signage that can be allocated according to the requirements of individual sites.
Site Entrance Signage
Construction entrances are important communication points.
Depending on the signs included in Pack I, entrance signage may communicate:
-
Construction site warnings
-
Access restrictions
-
Visitor instructions
-
PPE requirements
-
Site rules
Place entrance signage where workers, contractors and visitors can see the relevant requirements before entering the operational area.
PPE Signage
Where personal protective equipment is required, PPE signs can help communicate requirements such as:
-
Safety helmets
-
High-visibility clothing
-
Safety footwear
-
Eye protection
-
Hearing protection
-
Protective gloves
-
Respiratory protection
The appropriate PPE should be determined according to the hazards and work activity.
PPE signs communicate the requirement but don't replace appropriate risk controls, equipment selection, training or supervision.
Hazard & Warning Signs
Construction projects can involve changing hazards throughout different stages of work.
Depending on the contents of Pack I, warning signage may be used to communicate relevant risks around the site.
Additional specialist signs may be required for hazards such as:
-
Deep excavations
-
Demolition
-
Electrical hazards
-
Overhead cables
-
Underground services
-
Confined spaces
-
Asbestos
-
Moving vehicles
-
Falling objects
Only display warning signs that correspond with an actual hazard.
Fire & Emergency Signage
Construction sites also need appropriate emergency arrangements.
Depending on the contents of Pack I and your project's arrangements, signage may help identify:
-
Fire exits
-
Fire points
-
Firefighting equipment
-
Fire action information
-
First-aid facilities
-
Assembly points
Emergency signage should reflect the actual arrangements on the site and be reviewed as the project develops.
Construction Traffic Signage
Vehicle and pedestrian movements can require additional signage on larger projects.
Depending on the site's traffic-management arrangements, this might include:
-
Site speed limits
-
Pedestrian routes
-
Vehicle routes
-
No Entry
-
One Way
-
Reversing vehicle warnings
-
Parking restrictions
Check whether additional traffic signage is needed beyond the signs supplied in Pack I.
Where Should the 44 Signs Be Displayed?
Don't install all 44 signs together simply because they're supplied as one pack.
Each sign should be positioned where its particular message is required.
For example:
Main entrance
General construction warnings, access restrictions and site-wide PPE requirements.
Pedestrian entrance
Visitor and PPE information.
Site perimeter
Relevant warning and access-control signs.
Individual work areas
Hazard-specific and additional PPE signage.
Vehicle routes
Traffic and pedestrian information.
Fire points
Relevant firefighting-equipment signs.
First-aid facilities
First Aid signs.
Assembly area
Assembly Point signage.
The objective is to put the right sign in the right location.
Does Pack I Include Every Sign My Construction Site Needs?
Not necessarily.
No pre-selected construction sign pack can anticipate every hazard or safety arrangement on every project.
The signage required depends on factors including:
-
Work being carried out
-
Hazards present
-
Site layout
-
Access arrangements
-
PPE requirements
-
Vehicle movements
-
Fire arrangements
-
First-aid provision
-
Contractors and visitors
-
Risks to members of the public
Pack I provides a broad selection of construction signage, but additional signs may be needed for project-specific risks and work activities.
Construction Sign Pack or Site Safety Board?
Pack I contains individual signs that can be positioned at different locations around the project.
A Site Safety Board combines several important messages onto one larger panel and is commonly positioned at an entrance.
For a larger project, the two can work together.
Use a Site Safety Board to communicate important entrance information, then use the individual signs from Pack I at relevant locations throughout the site.
Construction Sign Pack or Site Safety Banner?
Site Safety Banners provide larger-format safety messaging for fencing, hoardings and site boundaries.
Pack I provides individual signs for specific locations.
A larger construction site may therefore use:
Site Safety Board – main entrance
Site Safety Banners – perimeter fencing
Construction Sign Pack – individual locations throughout the site
Do I Need Additional Signs?
Possibly.
Pack I should be checked against the project's risk assessments, site layout and safety arrangements.
Additional signs may be needed for specialist hazards or activities not covered by the pack.
These could include:
-
Asbestos Signs
-
Confined Space Signs
-
Electrical Safety Signs
-
Specialist PPE Signs
-
Excavation Signs
-
Traffic Management Signs
-
Fire Safety Signs
-
Additional First Aid Signs
This allows you to supplement the 44-sign pack according to the actual requirements of the project.
Review Signage as the Project Changes
Construction sites change quickly.
Access points move, new hazards emerge, work areas change and different contractors arrive.
Regularly review the signs around the site and ask:
-
Is this sign still required?
-
Is it in the correct location?
-
Can people clearly see it?
-
Has it become damaged or dirty?
-
Has the hazard changed?
-
Has the access route moved?
-
Are additional signs now required?
Remove signs that no longer apply and reposition or replace signage where necessary.

UK Health & Safety Regulations
The Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA) 1974 is a foundational law in the UK for workplace health and safety. It outlines the general duties of various parties to ensure a safe work environment. Here's a quick summary: Duty of Employers: Employers must provide a safe workplace, ensure the health, safety and welfare of their employees and anyone else on the premises (visitors, contractors etc.). This includes providing adequate training, information, and supervision. Employee Duties: Employees have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others around them. This includes following safety procedures and using equipment properly. Other Duties: The Act also places duties on those responsible for premises, manufacturers of equipment used at work, and the self-employed. Safety signage is one way employers can fulfill their duty to inform and instruct employees. Signs can warn of hazards, provide instructions for safe use of equipment, and delineate emergency exits. While HSWA outlines general principles, specific regulations and Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs) provide more detailed guidance on workplace health and safety practices. For up-to-date information, you can refer to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) website https://www.gov.uk/health-and-safety-executive.

Sign Materials Guide
Choosing the right material for your safety signs is crucial for ensuring their effectiveness and durability. We proudly manufacture all our signs in Britain. Let us guide you in selecting the most suitable material for your signs.
Self-adhesive stickers
Self-adhesive stickers are ideal for indoor usage. We use superior-quality Metamark digital vinyl, which is a durable and flexible material with an adhesive backing. Prior to applying the sticker, ensure that the surface is flat, smooth, and clean. While the vinyl is waterproof, we do not recommend outdoor usage unless the surface is deemed appropriate. It is important to note that vinyl stickers do not stick to wood, rendered, wood chip, brick or stone walls, concrete, or similar surfaces. In such cases, we suggest considering alternative materials such as recycled plastic or composite aluminium. Please be aware that Self-adhesive stickers, such as Dulux Easycare Matt Emulsion paint, will not adhere to newly formulated washable, "wipe clean" painted surfaces. If you have any uncertainties or inquiries, feel free to ask us. Additionally, we advise against attempting to independently apply Self-adhesive stickers larger than A4 size, as it may be more challenging than anticipated.
Recyclable Plastic
Introducing Polyline Bubble Board, the latest innovation in the sign industry, made from 100% recyclable polypropylene. Manufactured in the EU by Pyramid, this eco-friendly material offers an impressive strength-to-weight ratio, with a smooth, flute-free surface—unlike Correx.
The Bubble Board features a fire-retardant (FR) black core, making it an ideal choice for projects that require enhanced safety measures. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, it is UV-treated for excellent weather resistance, and its scratch-resistant surface outperforms traditional Foamex. Fully recyclable through the No.5 waste stream, Bubble Board is a sustainable and reliable option for UK safety signage.
Rigid Plastic
Rigid Plastic Signs are commonly used for safety signs due to their durability and lightweight design. Our Plastic 1mm option is lightweight and durable, providing waterproof qualities. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Fixing holes can be drilled in the plastic at no additional cost.
We take pride in being the inaugural online sign manufacturer in the UK to present our complete product line of health and safety signs and general signage in 50% recycled plastic. Our new 3mm waterproof recycled plastic, which is bright white in colour, is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and is more eco-friendly compared to traditional rigid plastic. It possesses the same surface qualities as rigid and foamed plastic but incorporates a lighter recycled foam PVC centre. Furthermore, this material is 100% recyclable and offers an exceptional printing surface for various signage applications. You have the option to drill fixing holes or use foam adhesive pads on the back for mounting the signs.
Aluminium Composite
Our Metal Signs, constructed from Aluminium Composite (Dibond Signs), are specifically crafted for outdoor usage. The aluminium composite consists of a non-aluminium core bonded between two thin sheets, resulting in a sturdy and weather-resistant sign. We utilize 3mm thick composite aluminium, sourced from ALUPANEL in Britain. This material is produced from at least 80% recycled materials and is completely recyclable. It can be easily drilled to install holes, and we provide pre-drilled holes upon request at no extra cost. Dibond signs are well-known for their durability and long lifespan, making them a fantastic option for outdoor signage.
Foamex
Foamed Plastic Signs, or Foamex, are a popular choice for temporary construction site safety boards. This material is durable yet lightweight, weatherproof, and specifically designed for outdoor signage. Our foamex is 3mm thick and has a white matte finish.
Correx
Fluted Polypropylene, also known as Correx, is designed for temporary signage, especially in the construction industry. It offers a cost-effective and lightweight solution for short-term signage needs.
Banners
Here are the details about our banner options:
Standard and Premium Banner Materials
We offer a standard 440gsm PVC Banner, which is lightweight, weather-resistant, flame-resistant, and has a gloss finish. It is suitable for indoor and short-term outdoor use.
- Our Premium 510gsm Extra-Strong PVC Banner is designed for higher tear resistance and durability. It is weather-resistant, suitable for indoor and long-term outdoor use, and meets UK and European fire safety standards. It has a satin finish.
Mesh Banner Material
- The 260gsm MESH Banner is perfect for windy areas, as its perforated design allows wind and some light to pass through, preventing ripping.
All our banners are printed with high-quality, eco-friendly UV inks. They are hemmed and eyelet for easy fixing, and cable ties are provided at no extra charge.

Frequently Asked Questions About Construction Site Signs
What are the required safety signs for a UK construction site?
Under Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM 2015), building sites must prominently display a mix of mandatory signs (e.g., "PPE Must Be Worn"), prohibition signs ("No Unauthorised Access"), hazard warnings ("Danger Construction Site"), and clear fire exit route markers. Our multi-message site safety boards combine all these necessary warnings onto a single layout.
Which sign material is best for temporary scaffolding and building sites?
For temporary construction environments, Fluted Polypropylene (Correx) and Foamed Plastic (Foamex) are highly recommended. Correx is incredibly lightweight, waterproof, and easily attached to scaffolding grids or fencing using cable ties. For longer-term development projects or hoarding displays, we suggest upgrading to rigid plastic or durable aluminium composite (dibond) panels.
Do you offer bulk trade pricing for large construction projects?
Yes, we specialise in supplying trade accounts and major contractors across the UK. The Safety Sheep Store offers bulk trade discounts of up to 35% on multi-packs and volume orders. All our building site signs are proudly manufactured in our Yorkshire facility, allowing us to pass direct factory savings straight to your project budget.
